It's Been A LONG Time...

So I've been hearing and reading about this Walmart situation for the last couple of days. As a man, I can readily admit that I normally would take the side of a Black person when the argument is Black people vs. White people, but I do respect the human race well enough to hear both sides of the story and form my own opinion. With that said, I think anyone with some common sense (and without a racial bias) can see right through this story and find the simple truth. As the general story states, this young woman switched (or cut) lines at Walmart in Kennett, MO to join her cousin at the front of another line. Upon doing so, there was an altercation of some kind with a White female customer who was behind her cousin, which actually resulted in no PHYSICAL incident whatsoever; a war of words and her being expelled from the store. Where the story goes wrong is in the parking lot: where NO ONE has seen any tapes, no WITNESSES are available and no evidence of any truth to the story of EITHER side has been proven (ALL of this over the course of 3 years). According to police, this young woman kicked the shin of one officer and split the lip of another, all while resisting the arrest of THREE POLICE OFFICERS. Is it possible? Well with a shin kick and a head butt, sure. Is it likely, especially with THREE arresting officers? I can't say that it isn't but I CAN and WILL say that it shouldn't be. According to her story, she was verbally harassed by the officers to the point of turning around and making a physical threat to them contingent upon them putting their hands on her in any fashion. She was then thrown to the ground and arrested, her shirt being tightened around her neck (she claims to have been choked) as she was taken to the squad car and into the department for booking. Her "only" witnesses (according to those taking side with the police) are her family members. Now here's where I find that a balanced line of questioning to find fault could have had this case solved years ago; also by the case JUST NOW going forward with proceedings, one can find a slight taste of home cookin' (aka racism) within the case.

A.) So you're telling me that according to witnesses within the store, there was a physical altercation but there are NO CHARGES when it comes to THAT altercation...
B.) You're also telling me that it took THREE police officers and a security guard to get her out of the store? But she wasn't arrested for disturbing the peace at that point...
C.) THEN you're telling me that you've CLEARLY said something that rubbed her the wrong way and she turns and SAYS something to you, and THEN it takes THREE of you to get her in handcuffs? So she basically put up a better fight than some true criminals that are trying to run for their lives.
D.) So you say that there's no presence of the KKK or any racist organizations in the area, but there have been KKK cards found EVERYWHERE in the town's Black neighborhoods/areas and the parent's of this young woman, as well as the parents of a Black athlete involved in a racially motivated fist fight in 2005 say that a police officer actually HANDED one directly to them.
E.) So after you've made this bogus claim about there being no kinds of racist organizations in the area, when Missouri as a state is a known KKK stronghold, there are groups of "Aryan Brotherhood" and "KKK" fans/members/followers that are VIDEOTAPED to have been present. But you actually had snipers on the roof watching over the marchers on behalf of the Black young woman involved: which shows me that you KNEW there was a strong possibility of some kind of racial incident to occur, but it would "only be caused by the presence of the Black protesters".

I feel like I still don't have enough information to draw an viable conclusion as to what happened that day (over THREE years ago), but I do recognize that when you change court date when this woman is traveling from Louisiana, but WILL NOT change the date when she lets you know in advance that she can't make it (which would result in contempt of court and immediate warrant for arrest) and you've tried to sweep every past incident of racial tension under the rug in advance of this highly publicized court case, that you KNOW something is wrong and that you're trying your best to maintain the status quo. My conclusion is this: she was in a fucked up town, with a bad attitude herself. She got mad because someone didn't want to let her get in front of them, but she was definitely harassed by the people around her. This is a $500 fine for disturbing the peace that has become a case when she could lose years of her life if she doesn't win in court. Again, the law overpursues the prosecution of people of color.

President Barack Obama Addresses Healthcare

What's up world? Following last night's Presidential Address of Congress on the issue of Healthcare, I was moved to blog about a few things about the state of America that has truly disturbed me. I was moved IMMENSELY by the carefully crafted words of President Obama, who I have decided is one of the most genuine, honest and caring Presidents that we will EVER have. I believe he has begun to stamp an indelible legacy on our nation, and I respect his courage to stand tall against critics which come by the MILLIONS on an everyday basis. I find it to be beyond disrespectful for people to continue to try to shift the blame of our current standing on President Obama and what he "hasn't done", when he has actually stopped an economy under a multi-trillion dollar deficit from imploding and going into total default in less than 8 REAL months on the job. I think that in itself should be enough for critics to at least get off his ass: but they won't. It seems that when everyone can't get what they want RIGHT NOW from President Obama, they label him as a "failure" to THEIR cause. We see this everyday from the Republican Party, especially last night. I won't even go into that fool's nonsense, but I will say that "that governor from South Carolina" embarrassed himself to DEATH last night. I want people to start understanding that race is a major part in a lot of this: many White people, especially long standing politicians, CEOs and also parents (in the case of the Presidential Address on Education) have a MAJOR PROBLEM with taking orders from a Black Man. Say what you want, it's true: we know it, you can't fool us about it and we'd ACTUALLY respect you MORE if you were just honest. Lying about it is a slap in OUR faces. Nonetheless, I have total confidence that President Obama is going to continue along this path to prominence and I fully support him with all that I have to offer. Never before have I felt so strongly that someone was right, and never before had I ever felt that someone was a LEADER. EVERYONE CAN SEE what I see, some don't like it, but they know it's true. I'm proud to say that I now know how my grandfather felt about Martin Luther King, Jr. I'm proud to be a voting, able-bodied and empowered American. I am proud to be a follower of President Barack Obama.
